Chipmunk Experience Flights

Ever Thought what's it's like to fly an Aeroplane? And,what about taking the controls and trying it for yourself?
Experience all that and more while flying our vintage Chipmunk aeroplane. Not only can you actually fly the aeroplane but also you will be flying over the beautiful countryside of South Ayrshire with its hills, valleys and of course the beautiful coastline with Culzean Castle, Turnberry and good views of Ailsa Craig and Arran on most days. The Chipmunk is an ex military aeroplane, and of course is capable of aerobatics, so should you chose to, you can experience what it's like to Loop and Roll!

The Chipmunk aircraft is an ex military aeroplane, used by The RAF, Royal Navy and the British Army plus many foreign air forces to conduct basic training for its pilots. They first entered service in 1950 replacing the  the wartime Tiger Moth biplane and served in the training role until 1996, making it the longest serving aircraft in British Military Sevice. As such they trained Ten's of Thousands of pilots and were also used by the University Air Squadrons and Air Experience Flights which gave young Air Cadets their first taste of flying (maybe that was you!) Even today a few are still used by The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight to train their Spitfire and Hurricane pilots.

Our Aircraft was built in 1950 , served in the RAF for eight years then sold on to a school training airline pilots and eventually came to us in 2003. Known affectionately to the club as 'Romeo Whisky' from its radio callsign it is used as a training aeroplane for those who want to learn to fly in a vintage aeroplane or as an aircraft that fullfills of it's former role of Air Experience Flights.
